WeSpeak Verify takes the guesswork out of hiring by combining verified business listings, available licensing data (for example, CSLB in California), and our structured AI analysis. When you run a search, we reconcile duplicate listings, flag risky license statuses, calculate transparent scores, and produce a sourced summary that highlights the pros, cons, and recent customer feedback a homeowner should review before booking a contractor.
End-to-End Workflow
Every verification request runs through a guided pipeline that combines licensed data, public reviews, and structured AI analysis. We log each step for transparency and rerun checks whenever new data becomes available.
- Search & Match: We normalize your search inputs, query Yelp and Google Places, and reconcile duplicates.
- License Lookup: We cross-reference available licensing data (for example, CSLB in California) using business names, license numbers, and addresses.
- Score Calculation: We apply weighting rules configured in admin settings (rating vs. review volume vs. license status).
- AI Analysis: We generate an AI summary with cited sources and run automated sanity checks before display.
Data Sources We Combine
Public Reviews
- Yelp ratings, review counts, and up to 3 recent reviews
- Google Places ratings and the 5 most recent public reviews
- Source links preserved for easy verification
Licensing & Compliance
- Available licensing data (for example, CSLB in California) covering status, classifications, issue & expiration dates
- Business address, phone, and entity type where available
- Automatic flagging when licenses are expired or missing
How Scores Are Calculated
We produce a composite score (0–100) by combining weighted subscores. Default weights are 70% review quality, 30% review volume, with optional boosts for validated license status and multiple data sources. All weights are configurable in the WeSpeak Verify settings panel.
- Review Score: Normalizes star ratings across Yelp and Google.
- Volume Score: Rewards consistent review activity and caps outliers.
- License Score: Prioritizes clear/active licenses and penalizes lapses.
AI Guardrails
Our AI summaries follow strict prompts and validation rules. We require specific bullet counts, cite sources inline, and reject responses that do not meet quality thresholds. If the AI fails validation, we fall back to a rules-based pros/cons extractor so you still receive actionable insights.
- Responses limited to facts extracted from verified sources
- Automatic redaction of personal or sensitive information
- Refresh triggers when new reviews or licensing updates are detected
Transparency & Limitations
We focus on publicly available data and official records. Always confirm project scope, insurance, and references directly with the contractor before hiring. If you spot inaccuracies, contact support so we can retrain or refresh the data source.
